Family Fun In The Sun

Summer is just around the corner!
(for some of you it may be sooner--lucky ducks!)
Summer is a time for kids (parents + teachers) to relax
but towards the end I'm sure we're all ready to head back
to the place of learning.
To help keep your child from saying the B word (bored...get your
mind out of the gutter!)
Here are a few fun activities you can do with them!

1. Sign them up for summer camp! Did you know they have DAY camps during the summer that your child can attend? It's usually cheaper than regular day care and you can usually pick out the weeks that your child attends.

2. Have a family service day! Seriously what better way to give back to your community and feel peace and love in your heart at the same time? There are so many organizations out there that would love your help and friendly face.

3. Have a water day! This may not be the cheapest option but your family will have so much fun playing in the water together.

4. Splash Pads! Seriously, splash pads are amazing and they are EVERYWHERE! Your best bet would be to Google your town's best ones or ask on social media.

5. Go on a picnic! When you go on a picnic with your family there are bound to be memories made.

6. Host a bonfire! Again, not the cheapest idea but you'll be able to bond with your family and your friends (if you decide to invite them).

7. Go to a movie night! Check to see if your local movie theater has cheap movie nights during the summer.

8. Go camping! Who doesn't love camping? You'll get to be in nature, away from the technology and craziness of the world and bond with your family.

9. Go visit relatives. Seriously, go on a weekend or overnight trip and visit some relatives you have not seen in a while.

10. Plant a garden. While this one isn't the most common thing to do as a family, it sure will bring a lot of joy and fun, especially when you get to harvest what you planted with your loved ones.

Whatever you decide to do just make sure you are having fun, you're safe, and you're creating memories--I promise you won't regret it.

Even in Hard Times

As we get older we learn life isn't always doughnuts and milkshakes. Life is hard, being a product member of society is hard. Sometimes I think that we are hard too hard on ourselves. We never let ourselves take a break and just rejoice in the wonderful life that we are living. Sometimes we all are busy, we all have families, school, evening activities that we use to try and replace the brokenness we feel in our hearts sometimes. Some of us have felt the brokenness for quite a while now but others are just now starting to feel it. (now I'm not saying all of our lives are broken but admit it you have felt sad in your life about something). So how do we truly fix this? How do we unmask ourselves and start to really feel better about our lives? I believe that we should start by looking in the mirror and realizing we are doing the best that we possibly can. If it helps get a dry erase marker and right on your mirror something positive. Here are some ideas you could...

2016: A Year of Learning and Thankfulness

2016. This year has definitely been a year of learning. Learning who I am and who I'm suppose to become. I've learned this year that I can do anything that I set my mind to do and that I just need possible.  I'm not who I was a year ago and I've learned to be okay with that. I'm coming to terms with the fact that I'm a totally different person than I was even two years ago. I've learned that life goes on. And I've learned that things don't always go as planned. I've learned that things happen for a reason and that things happen in Heavenly Father's time, not ours. I've learned that our plans don't always go accordingly and to be grateful for every moment because we won't be able to get those moments back. This year I've also learned to be thankful. Thankful for my family, who support me, in every decision I make. Thankful for my warm home on winter nights and a cool home on those warm July days. I'm th...
