Christmas Service Ideas

It's the most wonderful time of the year!
I know if you're like me it's hard to believe.
Everyone is wanting to do service around this time
but there are some who have a hard time getting started,
that's where I come in. I want to help you get started on your
Christmas services, whether you have already started or dont know
where to start. A lot of these ideas will be family/kid friendly as well!
Lets get started:

1. Donate items to a local shelter. There are plenty of shelters looking for different useful items this time of year, don't just donate coats and clothes. They are in need of hygiene items as well and don't forget the babies and small children at the shelters, they could use some diapers as well! Don't know where to find a shelter? Google "my local shelters" and there should be plenty that pops up!

2. Bake cookies! Let's be honest homemade cookies make everyone day so much better so pick out at least 3 families that you think could use some delcious cookies. Here are some easy and yummy cookie recipes: Thumbprint Cookies No Bakes Chocolate Chunk Lemon Cookies

3. Send out Christmas Cards. No this one is super simple. You can easily go and pick up some cards at your local dollar store and send out cards to those wonderful people who are on your mind.

4. Visit your local hospital/nursing home. Call ahead of time and see if there is any floor in particular who could use a little something extra. You could even get a group together and go sing Christmas Carols.

5. Adopt. Is your family needing an extra member to love this Christmas? Adopt a forever furry friend! You won't regret it, I promise!

6. Salvation Army.  Sign up to ring the bell for the Salvation Army. You will be filled with the Christmas spirit by the end of your shift, I guarantee it!

7. Offer a gift wrapping service. Many people are so busy during this season that they simply do not have time to wrap their own gifts. This is where you come in, offer to wrap their gifts for them! Once again you can go to your local dollar store and get all the supplies you will need for under $15!

8. Decorate a tree that a lot of people will pass by. These seems super simple but really who doesn't enjoy looking at a decorated tree during this time?

9. Winter cleaning. Clean out your closets and donate your items to the charity of your choice! You will be glad you did!

10. Make lunches. There are many homeless people in the world. I know it's so sad but true. Get a group of your friends together and each one of you bring something and make sack lunches. Some ideas that you could bring are: peanut butter, deli meats, bread, small bags of chips, snack cakes, fruit snacks, and juice boxes.

As you can see alot of these services are simple.
You don't have to over think service, just simply get out there
and serve your community.
I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes about service.
"As we lose ourselves in the service of others
we discover our own lives and our own happiness."
-Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Merry Christmas!
XOXO,
Leslie Ann

Spring Break 2016

This year I was FINALLY able to go on a spring break trip with my family, which was much needed. You see usually my school schedule and work schedule never coincide with when my family is taking their annual trip to the lovely KW but this year it did! I was so excited to be able to go this trip! This year (and every other year) we traveled to Key West, Florida and OMG it was amazing! Even though it was a long(er) trip it was well worth it! There is so much to do there, even if the place itself is only 3 miles wide. My favorite thing to do is the Conch Train ride, its a little train/trolley ride that takes you around KW and tells you historical facts about the place, (maybe I love it a little too much because I am a history guru). But in all seriousness it is nice to actually get away from the demands of life and enjoy time with family and it doesn't hurt that it was in such a beautiful place surrounded by the ocean. On our way to Key West and on our way back home, we stopped at...

2016: A Year of Learning and Thankfulness

2016. This year has definitely been a year of learning. Learning who I am and who I'm suppose to become. I've learned this year that I can do anything that I set my mind to do and that I just need possible.  I'm not who I was a year ago and I've learned to be okay with that. I'm coming to terms with the fact that I'm a totally different person than I was even two years ago. I've learned that life goes on. And I've learned that things don't always go as planned. I've learned that things happen for a reason and that things happen in Heavenly Father's time, not ours. I've learned that our plans don't always go accordingly and to be grateful for every moment because we won't be able to get those moments back. This year I've also learned to be thankful. Thankful for my family, who support me, in every decision I make. Thankful for my warm home on winter nights and a cool home on those warm July days. I'm th...

Top [Ten] favorite quotes!

Today I am going to talk about my top 10 favorite quotes and why I love them. I think that inspirational quotes are my favorite type of quotes just because as I have gotten older I've learned to rely on them and they help me get through some of the dark times in my life. 1. "Those who move forward with a happy spirit will find that things work out"  -Gordon B. Hinckley I love this quote because I honestly believe in it. I grew up listening to this man talk in conferences and I absolutely love reading his talks. It's so amazing that when I read or listen to his talks how much I feel as though he is talking specifically to me. 2. "You have not failed until you quit trying" -Gordon B. Hinckley See, I told you I love this man. I absolutely love this quote because it is true, I believe that if you keep on trying at something you have won in some regards. 3.  "If you are a little better than you were yesterday, then that is enough" -David A....
