I'm so glad that I was asked to write a blog about what lessons I learned growing up with entrepreneurial parents because I feel like no one ever gets to see the children's point of view on a subject such as this.
I was blessed with great parents who wanted to give my twin sister and I the world. My dad started his own businesses so that my mom could stay home and be a homemaker before my dad decided to open up a business my mom was a NICU nurse. My parents were constantly teaching Leah and myself everything that they could so that one day we could provide a wonderful life for our future families. I'm pretty sure we have like 4 PhD's with the lessons that we have been taught...kidding...well only kind of. I've been taught so much by my parents that if I can help someone else with some of the lessons then my life will be content. You see I'm a teacher by trade so I love helping people--any way that I can. So with that being said here are my top four lessons:
1. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS stay humble:
This actually might be hard for some people because when something great happens to them, for example if they finally get the recipe right for making money, their heads get too big and they aren't humble anymore. It's important to stay humble and to thank Heavenly Father for the blessings that He has blessed you with.
2. It doesn't always happen the first try:
I'm sorry to say this but you aren't going to get it right the first time and if you do CONGRATS! But more than likely you're going to have to work really hard at it AND THEN work even harder because you're not going to like the first attempt or it didn't work the way you thought it would.
3. Don't believe in the negativity:
Yep, it's going to be there. People are going to become jealous of your dreams coming true. You just have to straight up ignore them. Sadly, they aren't going anywhere.
4. Sometimes you will be your own worst critic.
It's true. The little voice in your head is going to tell you that you can't do it. That whatever your dream is will never work. PROVE THAT VOICE WRONG.
My parents are amazing people. My dad is seriously a cuddly teddy bear who just wants to see everyone do good for themselves and their families, my mom is a fighter and will fight what is deserved. I honestly don't think either of them would hurt a fly. I'm so grateful to have them as parents. If you want to get in touch with them to learn more about what they are all about check out my dad's website (johnnybryan.com) or private message me!
